Peruvian opal, is a unique and striking gemstone primarily found in the Andes of Peru. It is a form of common opal (as opposed to precious opal), meaning it lacks the play-of-color typically seen in opals, but instead displays a mesmerizing, solid blue-to-greenish hue reminiscent of tropical waters. This opal often has a soft, translucent or milky quality, sometimes with a hint of cloudiness or natural inclusions that give each stone a distinctive look. Peruvian opal is popular in jewelry due to its vibrant color, which varies from light pastel to more vivid shades. It is relatively delicate compared to other gemstones, requiring careful handling and often stabilization for durability.
