Spalted Beech

Wood that draws its own map. Our spalted beech comes from Denmark, responsibly harvested and aged under controlled natural conditions so that different fungi can work within the wood, leaving the dark boundary lines known as zone lines.

We cross-cut it against the grain to showcase those lines, revealing bold, map-like patterns that a lengthwise cut would never show. The wood is then dried and resin-stabilized under pressure for a smooth, highly polished finish. Every section is different.
